52nd Congress of the European National Societies of Toxicology EUROTOX 2016

Dear Colleagues,

The 52nd Congress of EUROTOX will be take place in Seville, Spain, 4th-7th September 2016 organized by the Turkish Society of Toxicology.EUROTOX is the Federation of 34 European National Societies of Toxicology with more than 7000 members. The theme of the 52ndcongress was “Protecting Public and Environmental Health by Understanding and Communicating Toxicology” and the scientific programme highlighted significant developments and achievements in the field of toxicology.

It was decided during the EUROTOX 2011 Congress in Paris that EUROTOX 2016 would be held in Istanbul. Preparations were underway in Istanbul during the past 5 years. However, several terrorist attacks affected the risk perception of potential participants and a strong tendency developed to not attend the meeting. In March 2016, the Local Organization Committee of the Turkish Society of Toxicology proposed to the EUROTOX Executive Committee the idea of moving the congress to another European city. By common accord, and with strong support of the Spanish Toxicology Society, the congress was relocated to Seville. It was a difficult decision to relocate a congress to another European city whose organization had been underway for many years. 

The venue change was announced with the message “We expect your full support to this congress which will be held with the same scientific programme and committees. It is the time to stand against terrorism together. Let’s express this by your participation in EUROTOX 2016. We are confident that we will convene another successful EUROTOX Congress.” We are happy to see that this hope was attained.
