46th Annual World Conference of IFATCA

Dear Friends,

It is a great honor and a sincere pleasure for me to invite you to the IFATCA 46th Annual Conference to be held in Ýstanbul, Turkey, 15-20 April, 2007. We welcome delegates from all around the world to attend such significant conference.

As usual, it will be a great chance to meet colleagues, to renew the many lasting friendship that have been formed at previous conferences, and to continue to voice our concerns and offer solutions to problems in our profession.

Ýstanbul, which was known as capital of the capital cities and created huge peace geographies with reigning to first Roman, and then Eastern Roman ( Byzantium) Empire, and was the capital city of Ottoman Empire, is going to a modern future with proud. Ýstanbul still remains the commercial, historical and cultural pulse of Turkey, and its beauty lies in its ability to embrace its contradictions; ancient and modern, religious and secular, Asia and Europe, mystical and earthly all co-exist here.

"There, God and human, nature and art are together, they have created such a perfect place that is valuable to see."

Lamartine's famous poetic line reveals his love for Ýstanbul, describing the embracing of two continents, with one arm reaching out to Asia and the other to Europe. It is the only city in the world to straddle two continents, and the only one to have been a capital during two consecutive empires - Christian and Islamic.
